So You Tube has banned this version of Robin Thicke's really fun song because there are a few topless woman in it ..yet they continue to allow violence and other disturbing graphic nature to be shown in so MANY other videos posted on their site. The world has bigger problems we can focus our attention to. So fitting that this song title is 'Blurred Lines'..
I'm posting it unless they go and pull it from Vevo as well. It's 2013; I say slap an advisory on it and let it play.
ps: Please be advised there are boobs in this video..

Warm Herbal Goodness~ the health benefits of tea
I'm a tea drinking girl, I come from a family of Scots who have been known to give tea to babies in their bottles (auntie Emily!) Before bed as a kid my mum would often make tea and toast, an evening ritual I still sometimes partake in today :)
When I was pregnant I gave up coffee and looked to decaf teas instead. It's pretty amazing what health benefits they have to offer. I've had a lot of trouble staying asleep all night since I lost my son so I searched online for the best natural remedies and Chamomile Tea is on all the lists; so thats where I'll start. I was going to write a post about them but found this article from Best Health Mag in my search and it covers what I'd write anyways so steep yourself some warm herbal goodness and give it a read: http://www.besthealthmag.ca/eat-well/nutrition/7-herbal-teas-that-will-make-you-healthy
7 herbal teas that will make you healthier
Need a health boost? Reach for a soothing cup of herbal tea to relieve nausea, bloating and other common ailments
By Meredith Dault
There’s nothing nicer on a cold midwinter’s day than a soothing cup of herbal tea. But besides being a tasty, warming, caffeine-free pick-me-up, herbal tea has lots of wonderful health benefits. From soothing a troubled tummy to easing insomnia and calming a troubled mind, herbs have all sorts of healing powers. Drinking herbal tea can also be a great source of vitamins and minerals.
What is herbal tea?
Herbal tea isn’t really made from tea—which is a specific kind of plant. The French use the word tisane, which is a little more accurate, since herbal tea is really just an infusion of leaves, seeds, roots or bark, extracted in hot water. In drinking a well-steeped herbal tea, we get all the plant’s benefits in an easily digestible form.
The benefits of herbal tea
“In a lot of ways, we might get more benefit from a good organic tea than from a vitamin pill,” says herbalist Marianne Beacon of Elderberry Herbals in Peterborough, Ont. "You’re getting the benefits of hydration. There’s the social element: Tea is something that you can share with people. And when you’re drinking herbal tea, you get aromatherapy at the same time—and that’s something you don’t get from a tablet!”
That’s why Toronto-based herbalist Marcia Dixon says herbal tea should always be steeped in a covered vessel to contain the beneficial essential oils. “Otherwise, your room smells nice but you aren’t retaining the medicinal properties.”
How to choose a herbal tea
When it comes to choosing a herbal tea, both Dixon and Beacon agree that it’s important to look for a well-sourced product made from high-quality ingredients. If you’re drinking tea for the medicinal benefits, then definitely steer clear of products that add things like essential oils or flavours. And to really get the full benefits from drinking herbal tea, make sure you steep your loose tea or tea bags long enough—in some cases, as long as 10 to 15 minutes—to really bring out all the healthful properties.
Why spicy food is good for you
Foods that heal: Can nutraceuticals cure common illnesses?
Natural home remedies: Indigestion
“Anytime you’re ingesting something, you’re giving your body the building blocks it needs to manufacture tissues and hormones,” says Dixon. “If you drink tea every day, you can make all sorts of significant changes to your mood, your skin, your sense of well-being and energy.”
There are so many wonderful herbal teas to choose from. Here are a few of the most common. Don’t be afraid to try something new!
Peppermint tea
Halifax naturopath Colin Huska recommends drinking peppermint tea to relieve the symptoms of abdominal gas and bloating, and to relieve muscle spasms. It’s also good for nausea (without vomiting) and for heating up the body and making it sweat. If indigestion or heartburn are problems, however, then Dixon recommends avoiding peppermint altogether. Peppermint tea can also be made using fresh herbs from the garden—and it's one of the easiest herbs to grow.
Ginger tea
Another great digestive aid, ginger can be used to curb nausea, vomiting or upset stomach due to motion sickness. Make fresh ginger tea by simmering a piece of ginger root on the stove for 10 to 15 minutes—add fresh lemon juice and honey when you have a cold for a powerful germ-fighting combination. Beacon also suggests making tea from powdered ginger to ward off a chill.
Chamomile tea
A gentle calming and sedative tea made from flowers, chamomile tea can be helpful for insomnia. It can also be helpful with digestion after a meal. Huska recommends chamomile in cases of cough and bronchitis, when you have a cold or fever, or as a gargle for inflammation of the mouth. Be sure to steep it well to get all the medicinal benefits.
Rooibos tea
High in vitamin C as well as other minerals, rooibos has all sorts of health benefits. An easy drinking tea, it’s largely grown in South Africa and has been touted for its antioxidant properties—which may in turn help ward off disease and the signs of aging. It has also been shown to help with common skin concerns, such as eczema.
Lemon balm tea
An easy-to-grow plant, lemon balm is helpful for lifting the spirits. “It’s good for the winter blahs,” says Deacon, “and it can help improve concentration.” She adds that lemon balm is safe for children and may help prevent nightmares when consumed before bed. This herb also makes a refreshing iced tea, and can be flavoured with lemon or maple syrup.
Milk thistle and dandelion tea
When consumed as a tea, milk thistle or dandelion are gentle liver cleansers. “They help the liver to regenerate and function at a higher capacity,” says Huska. “They can also assist in the production of bile, which can help with our digestive process.”
Rosehip tea
Rosehips are the fruit of the rose plant and are one of the best plant sources of vitamin C, which is important for the immune system, skin and tissue health and adrenal function. Consider reaching for rosehip tea next time you need a health boost.

Starbucks, This 'Bugs' Me
I've heard of companies using cochineal beetles before and I know to look for it on the ingredients of what I buy in the grocery store but I wouldn't think to look for it in a Starbucks drink. The beetles are used as an alternative to artificial flavourings but it's not a good alternative! Seventy thousand beetles are killed to produce just one pound of the red dye. Here's my idea.. for a cool drink on a hot day, drink REAL drinks like Water and Lemonade made with real lemons. I do love a Starbucks Coffee once in awhile and appreciate the company's interest in providing products that are Fair Trade. This one ingredient probably won't make me stop going there but it does make me want to spread the word to fellow Vegetarians. A drink that was once Vegan is no longer and of course I know now to never order these items. Most people freak out at the sight of an insect, ..now imagine drinking up the crushed bugs AND paying $7 for it. Regardless if you live an ethical lifestyle or not, it's just gross! Read this article I saw today on Yahoo Shine about the Starbucks Strawberry Cream Frappuccino and Strawberry Smoothies.

Hello 2012, I'm Ready For You.
So it's Saturday December 31st, 2011 and I'm up at six o'colock in the morning because I can't sleep. New Years has always been one of my most favourite times of the year and I'm most excited about this year in particular. I have plans. I have real immediate plans and I have plans to make plans for the more distant future. Plans that will have an positive impact on my life and hopefully on others as well. Plans that will feed my soul the energy it craves by doing something profound, something that will make a difference to someone in this world. Something that will matter.
I'm also ready to accept what once was, is no longer. Without the closure I deserve but never recieved I've stuggled with moving on from a long time friendship that ended early in the year. I'll never understand fully how that came to be but it is what it is and I owe it to myself to just get over it. I've also experienced a taste of what the 'Empty Nest Syndrome' will be like with the phasing out of my home daycare in 2011. I ran it successfully for six straight years but as of June the children were of age to be in school full time; and they don't need me anymore. There are all kinds of stories and photos and posts here on this Blog and on my Facebook Wall about the appreciation I have for the kids I spent so much of my life with all of those years. It's sort of ironic because it was my job to teach them, ... however I learned so much from them about myself and my gratitude for that cannot be described in words; only felt in my heart. But ..they've grown up now. Which leaves no reason at all why I shouldn't do the same and just get on with it. In 2012 I'll accept what once was, is no longer. (well, I promise to try to)
Looking ahead, and in the spirit of making New Years Resolutions, here are mine: I'll minimalize, de-clutter and do a full house cleanse of 'stuff' that we don't need in hopes it'll get me organized in a way that leaves for more quality time in my family life. I'll keep loving my friends. I'll continue to stand up for the rights of animals and for the rights of our human race. I'll be smarter with money this year; I'll think before I spend. I'll cook more this year, and use all my wicked vegan cookbooks my sister & Patty have bought for me over the last few years. (and maybe shed some pounds in the process! ..maybe) Overall, throughout every plan I make, for every interaction I encounter and for all the resolutions I create in this coming year, I'll keep true to myself. I look back with no regrets and ahead with a clear mind.
Hello 2012, I'm ready for you. Cheers!

Marks The Spots
I got out my Magic Cleaning Eraser today and scrubbed my walls; I have two boys and my house is usually full of children so it doesn't take long for the walls to get grungy. In doing so I see all of the many dents and dings there are in my foyer and along the hallway. They're permanent marks that look like an eyesore and anyone else would probably have patched them up by now.
One dent I recognize from when the kids were small enough to be in a double stroller. I parked it in the same spot near my front door and the indent in my wall shows where it used to sit. Those baby years are so over for us. Another few I know are from Callum running into the house in full goalie gear to use the bathroom. The hockey stick bashes all along the hallway as he hurries down it to go pee before the others begin the game again without him. He has such passion about him. The little nicks above the shoe rack are from where the kids leave their helmets and the ones near the baseboards marks the spots where the remote control trucks that have crashed along many times over the years. Some were even created accidentally by my husband, who is a child at heart and has been caught golfing down that hall on occasion. It's also been used as a bowling alley, a soccer field and race track for Hot Wheels cars and a railroad track for Thomas The Train. We've had trikes and bikes and scooters and sleds journey down that corridor as well. (And our guitars have left an indent or two when leaned against it!)
I of course don't know how every wall bash happened or who the paint destroyer was. From the chaotic life we live it's no wonder that hall looks the way it does; esthetically it's hideous. But at every glance some memory or another sweeps through my mind and evokes that emotion of gratitude for having a house that is so full of life and love and busyness and happiness. It's a place of comfort and warmth; where children want to play and be. If a few walls get dented in the process then we'll just put it on the repair list, .....but way way down on the list. I'm not ready for the memories they represent to disappear just yet!

Good Eye, Spy!
My little friend Irelynn spent the day with me today and pointed to my garden saying "Why you got farkles in yo gawden, Den?" I looked under all the bushes in my garden and there was in fact a jar of 'sparkles' from when we did art outside one day. How very random that she spotted them and that 'Farkles' just happens to be my most favourite word she uses, ....next to 'Goggy' as in Dogs of course. I cannot get enough of this kid, she makes me laugh out loud.

My Whole Life
I believe our Whole Being looks something like a pie shape and is made up of many different pieces, created by our passions. I think some people try too hard to find themselves in order to feel as though they "fit in" to a specific category or type of person and I kinda think they've got it all wrong. We're naturally drawn to certain people, music and other things in life.. When we focus on the things we love, we flourish and it contributes to the person we are as a whole. If we continually add positivemess into our lives, the negativeness will be easier to digest when it comes our way. It's all about balance.
Some of my greatest passions in my life are my family, my children. They fill me with light and absolutely amaze me each and everyday. I couldn't ask for a better husband or father to my boys than Chris. He keeps them in line while tolerating all that a good Daddy should tolerate. He loves us with all his heart.... and it shows. When I think about my kids or look at them, I'm amazed that we contributed in creating such beauty in this lifetime already. If I raise them right, they will do good things for our world.... the possibilities of what they can accomplish are limitless. I'm not sure if I can even describe in wordes how that makes me feel. But it's another piece that fills my pie proudly!
I like most people. Not all people, but most. There are strangers and aquintences who pass through my life who make my day right through conversation, gestures or vibes, but I have friends who have the capability to actually make my soul smile. When people intentionally or unintentionally drain energy from me I have an awareness about it and so I can handle it before it gets too low. All of these people, negative or positive, play a part in making me whole.
I'm drawn and facinated by things that other people may never aknowledge. These things lift my spirit, clear my mind and give me the piece of the pie that I'd say is driven by desire. It's an appreciation for a deep breath of fresh air on a warm sunny day knowing I need to contribute in everyway I can to save this planet so our future generations can experience that too. It's the joy I feel in watching someone play the guitar and know that I am capable of learning it too. It's the sense of willingness I experience when I think about people who are less fortunate in this world and knowing I have it in me to make a difference for them somehow, someway in this lifetime. It's knowing how to get a little crazy and have fun but with style and grace. There is always a desire to stay classy in all that I do. Doesn't mean I actually do this all the time, just means it's what I strive for. It's also about standing up for what I know is right and doing all I can to stop what is wrong such as child/slave labour, animal cruelty and so very much more, but in a way that I can be taken seriously. There is negetivity that can surround desire as well and so through my experiences I've learned ways to deal with it.
This wholeness as I know today will expand as I grow but the lessons within the pieces won't change. Everything I do, everyone I've encountered, every place I've been to, have all contributed to where I am at right now....And I really like where I'm at right now. I love my Whole Life.

Today Is My New January 1st
It's been a whole month since Thursday February 3rd and it's still bugging me. I broke one of my New Years Resolutions. I'm so ashamed of myself and have tried to let it go, but it's eating away at me. It doesn't even really matter what is was, but the fact that I made a commitment to myself that I didn't follow through on is really weighing on me. What does this say about my character?? I should be able to count on myself! I don't make a lot of resolutions because I intend to never break them and that can get really heavy, so I keep them simple and try my damndest to stay true to them. Now, here I've gone against my own word....
I've spent the last month agonizing over this and trying to come up with a way to forgive, which is something I tend to do very easily when it comes to others. I'm having a really hard time doing it for myself.
My solution is to just admit I effed up and start today off as if it's January 1st all over again. I'm giving myself a fresh start on that 2011 resolution. So, ....Happy New Years Resolution Round Two to me, and let's move on!

All We Are Saying Is Give Peace A Chance
The words to Give Peace A Chance are so simple and yet so very powerful. The ideas, initiatives and wisdom that came through John Lennon are gifts to anyone who can appreciate and understand him. I'm confident the world would be a better place today if he was still around.... Imagine that.
His songs are timeless and his messages are a fuel that to this day, feeds my soul. Happy, what would have been, 70th Birthday to him.

Sunshine, You're Beautiful.
Regardless of what is going on in my chaotic life, the sunshine can always balance me out. It can lighten my mood, make my day brighter and make me more appreciative of the simple things life has to offer. If I really take the time to enjoy it's warmth, I'll literally feel the energy being absorbed through me. It's powerful, it's natural and it's beautiful.... Peace, Love & Sunshine!

Back Into My Groove
A few weeks ago I felt very off... off balance, out of sync, drained and just really not myself. The more I complained about being off, the more negative I became and I felt sick about it. It seemed one bad karma kinda thing happened after another and at the time I felt completely overwhelmed. I try to live a positive life and I believe that whatever you put out into the Universe, will come back to you full circle. I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination and so I can accept that once in awhile this sort of thing happens... but it just seemed like I got more than I could manage that week.
I'm usually pretty good about not getting too down when something negative comes my way so I did some thinking, organized some thoughts and did snap out of it. I shifted my focus to the people and things most important in my life. I planned some family activities with my husband and my kids, looked into some PETA events that I want to be a part of, got the tattoo I've been wanting to get, met up with a few friends for a few drinks, re-connected all round and got back into my groove. Now I feel great again. Now I feel like Me. The real Me.... And I'm likin' it!

Vegetarians Are Empathetic Beings-There's Proof!
I've been saying for years that Vegetarians are more empathetic than most and I've tried to explain to people that true vegetarianism is neurological. It's not a choice for me, it's part of who I am and I was born vegetarian. On Psychology Today there was an article written about just that and so I have to share... check it out. Also, interestingly enough I had a random face reading done a few months ago and the word the guy chose to best describe me? ...... EMPATHY! Yep, I wrote about it here and find that to be a fun piece of info considering he didn't even know I was vegetarian. Hmmmm.... I guesss it's true what they say about Veg-Heads and Empathy afterall, and maybe I've been right all along. And now there are studies to prove it!

I'm A Fake, You're A Fake, We're All Fake For Goodness Sake
For goodness sake, or what people tend to think is for goodness sake, we tell little white lies to each other everyday, often to make each other feel better. We answer "yes" when asked if we like the homemade cookies our coworker thoughtfully baked and brought into work for us, even if we don't. We tell people "it's ok" even when it's not and we do things we don't want to do simply to appease someone else. Is this ok? Maybe.... but it's still being fake.
For years, I have prided myself on not being fake but I've just recently realized, after much thought and carefully recalling recent events in my head, that I am! I try to live a wholesome life and be a truthful person but the truth is, I do it all too. I omit, I have trouble saying "no" to people and I struggle with how to word things. These all play a part in being phoney.
I don't know what I can do to change it, or even if I will, but for now I'm just glad that I can acknowledge I am this way. Until I figure it all out, I can at least be honest to myself in knowing that I admit I AM in fact a fake!!

Mama Said There'll Be Days Like This, There'll Be Days Like This Mama Said
It's cold, it's been raining for days, I've been waiting for something to arrive that hasn't yet and I just got a call from the bank that my account has been compromised.... AGAIN! (weren't these new chip cards supposed to end all of that??) I was told today how huge I owe on my income tax, my house looks like a bomb hit it and I'm super exhausted. My kids are bouncing off the walls from eating so much Easter chocolate this week and the thought of them behaving like this over these next few days makes me want to just crawl under a rock and hide out til it's all over and all 208 foil eggs are gone. But I won't. I have a family to take care of, errands to run, laundry to do, meals to make, Kindergarten to volunteer in, friends to see and a job to get to. It's all part of being a Mama and Mama said there'll be days like this....

Good Things Come To Those Who Wait
I'm told by people all the time that I'm a patient person. I try not to let everyday stuff bother me but it's in my nature to be anxious.... and the waiting game kills my spirit a little bit inside. It can be anything but it has to have some significance to me for it to get to this point.... waiting for something important in the mail, or to hear back from someone about plans, or news regarding one of my kids, etc etc. I try to talk myself out of getting that way when I begin to feel it happen but... it always seems to happen anyways.
Right now I'm waiting for a specific day to arrive and it can't come soon enough. For the last few days I can't get the thought of it out of my head and I've even dreamt about it. I've often heard the phrase "Good things come to those who wait".... This particular day cannot come soon enough and seeing as I'm "waiting" for it, I'm hoping the "good" comes along with it....

We Are All Connected
So, I saw the movie Avatar and now understand what all the hype is about. It was a great movie with inspiring messages in it. I love the respect shown in the moments where the Na'Vi people connect to the beings they've killed, I love when they "see" each other and I also love the whole motion of bonding. It's a bit different to how I've always viewed relationships but similar in some ways as well.
Here is my opinion on how it all works. I did not read this in any one book, I did not learn it from any one person and am not saying this is reality but I believe it to be true from my experiences. I feel we are all connected. We share the energy of the Universe and the goal is to keep your energy at a level where you are content but to not be greedy about it. The secret is balance....it can get dangerous if you're feeling too low in energy. You might use sarcasm towards someone else or say something mean to make them feel small and weak. This drains their energy and as it leaves them, you can feed off it in your time of weakness. This will fill you up but only until the next person comes along and does the same thing to you.... it becomes a vicious cycle if you're not careful.
If you are usually a balanced person, you will be full of energy and be a more positive person all round. A balanced person can freely give away their energy because there is always a constant flow of good energy coming their way from others in their life who willingly feed it to them. It's a positive flow, a positive circle of energy. Sometimes we cross paths with people who we have a stronger connection with than others. These people can be our complete opposites but can still be our strongest source of energy. We fill voids within each other and learn from each other.
I am many things to many people with whom I connect with on a daily basis. I am a Wife and I'm a Mother which includes being a Cook, a Housekeeper, a Family Accountant, a Parent Volunteer, a Teacher/Tutor, a Taxi Driver, a Personal Secretary who organizes all the appointments and sport activities, a Travel Agent, a Storyteller, a Playmate, a Personal Shopper, a Singer/DJ, an Entertainer, a Photographer, Santa Claus and more.
To other parents, I'm a Caregiver for their children. These people trust me entirely to teach, love, respect and care for what is most precious to them in this world. This takes a lot of energy but I'm fortunate to be rewarded with children who fill me back up with their smiles and their love.
I'm also a Friend to many people, a Confidant (I've been trusted to keep secrets!) a Mentor to some (maybe!) and that girl most people can rely on.
I'm also an Aunt, a Daughter, a Step-Daughter, a Sister, a Step-Sister, a Cousin, a Grand-Daughter, a Daughter-In-Law, a Sister-In-Law, a Niece, an Employee/Co-Worker etc etc etc.
I am also, when you strip away all my titles, still Me underneath it all. I have chosen the roles I play and I've been careful to not take on more than I can handle. I love my life and I love who I am to all the people I have connections with. I'm very aware of the amount of energy I need in order to fulfill all my obligations. Once in awhile, we encounter someone who we connect with, create a bond with but find they don't take up a lot of our energy at all. There is such a flow of positive energy between you that neither of you feel empty or robbed at the end of the conversation. The energy is transferred back and forth. Neither of you have any more or less energy than what you brought with you to begin with, but it's been shared. It becomes different energy. It's exchanged energy which can leave you feeling rejuvinated and refreshed. Some of these people may even make your soul smile. These friendships/relationships/connections are vital in maintaining who you really are. And before you can be "someone" to anyone else, you must first be you to yourself. Make sense? Hmmm.... maybe not to everyone, but it works for me.
Anyways.... I got off on a bit of a tangent here.... that was a bit heavy. The mini version is that I LOVED the movie Avatar ;-)
Donn Zver Pottery
I discovered Donn Zver before I ever even moved out of my Mom's house and have been buying pieces there ever since. It's the only thing I really "collect" and I use it everyday. His pottery makes my coffee taste better, my table look prettier and makes me happy just to look at.
